Not long ago, parents chose a school by asking neighbours and visiting a few campuses. Today most of them start on a phone. They search for a school near them, scan the website, read reviews and send a message, often late in the evening. If your school is easy to find and quick to reply, you are on their shortlist. If not, they move on to the next name. The good news is that this does not need a big budget. It needs five simple things done well.
1. Make your school easy to find
Start with your Google Business Profile. This is the free listing that appears on Google Maps when someone searches for a school near them. Add your correct name, address, phone number, working hours, photos of the campus and a link to your website.
Keep the details exactly the same everywhere, including Facebook, Justdial and your website. When the details match, Google trusts your listing more.
2. Fix your website before you spend on ads
Many parents will open your website on a mobile phone. It should load fast, look clean and answer their questions quickly. Make sure these are easy to find:
- Classes offered and the admission process, step by step
- Fee structure or a clear way to ask for it
- A short enquiry form and a Call or WhatsApp button on every page
- Photos or a virtual tour of classrooms, labs and playground
3. Reply to every enquiry within minutes
A parent who sends an enquiry is comparing three or four schools at the same time. The school that replies first usually gets the visit. Use WhatsApp for quick replies, set an automatic welcome message, and make one person responsible for every enquiry each day.
If nobody is free to reply, an automatic first message that shares the next steps and offers a campus visit slot still makes a strong impression.
4. Show proof that parents can trust
Parents want to feel safe about their child's future. Share real results, annual day and sports moments, teacher introductions and parent reviews. Short videos and reels work well because they show the real atmosphere of the school.
Ask happy parents to leave a Google review. A steady flow of honest reviews helps both trust and your ranking on Maps.
5. Run small, targeted ads
Once the basics are ready, ads can bring more enquiries. Start small. Target parents within a few kilometres of your school, run separate messages for nursery, primary and senior classes, and send people to a page made only for admissions.
Track how many enquiries come from each class and each campaign. This tells you what to repeat and what to stop.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Running ads but sending parents to a slow or confusing website
- Leaving enquiries unanswered for a day or more
- Not tracking which campaign brought which admission
- Having different phone numbers and addresses online
Quick checklist
- Google Business Profile is complete with photos and reviews
- Website is fast on mobile and has an enquiry form
- WhatsApp number is active with a welcome message
- Every enquiry gets a reply within minutes
- Enquiries are tracked class by class
